First Nations Craft Workshop with Aunty Patsy Cameron

January 20 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm $20

Take part in our ‘Our Country Speaks To Us’ event, with Aunty Patsy Cameron, from Melythina Tiakana Warrana Aboriginal Corp, Saturday 20th January at 11am. 🌱

Learn about the seasonal changes on country, with examples of medicinal and edible foods and material cultural items. Learn how to twine string from natural plant fiber and make a small bowl of bull kelp to take home.

Entry to this event is covered by your standard entry fee. You can purchase entry tickets at the door, or in advance via our website.

Open to people of all ages, the workshop aimed to educate attendees on which plant foods and medicines were available to Aborigines in pre-European times in northern Tasmania—while also providing the opportunity to taste each plant food—and to teach us how to make an Aboriginal ‘carry bag’ that could be used to carry a small quantity of water or item of food.

This event is part of ‘The Festival of Flowers’.
The Festival of Flowers is supported by the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania
